The Varnet Group was founded in the 1980’s by Howard Reisman in Montreal, Quebec.
Reisman sold the company to to Marcam in 1993, in an all stock transaction. Shortly there after Marcam’s stock started tanking. Reisman sued, claiming the company had mis-represented value of Marcam stock and the company's future.
Marcam renamed the product MXP, and marketed the product along side the Mapics product, as the Unix or open systems alternative to the AS/400-centric Mapics solution.
When Marcam decided that their best best was to focus on Mapics, they sold off MXP, to a company that became Foresight.
Foresight was acquired by Halo Holdings, in October of 2005.
