Software International

Company was started in 1968 by Richard Lilly and Bill Watson, both of whom left IBM to form Manufacturing Management Sciences (the company's original name). As the company transitioned from a custom software development company, to a packaged application company, the name change to Software International was made and considered more applicable. The name also highlighted that the company was not just a manufacturing software company, but also offered a full line of financial applications, originally targeted to leverage the power of IBM's early mainframes, the S/360. In 1977 Richard Lilly left the company. In 1980 General Electric purchased Software International. The company was later purchased by Computer Associates, and today the software products are in with the Infor ERP software companies.
