Haht Commerce offered a plug-and-play web front-end solution for SAP. The solution provided data synchronization for slower moving data (materials), but real-time transactions for faster moving things (orders, shipments). Users were maintained on the web side, outside of SAP, and a single RFC user was used to pull realtime data out of SAP. At the time, and this was well before NetWeaver, SAP charged per user, even if it was a web-based user. So having one RFC user was a bargain. Haht Commerce was bought by GXS and they quit selling the product.
